How to Test Your Download Speeds with Accelenet

An easy way to compare your affective speeds with and without AcceleNet is to use the free, independent speed testing service at http://www.toast.net/performance.

Look under the Webserver column for the row marked
"TOAST.net Free" and use the "GO" buttons to
run tests for "Image", "Text" "1MB" and "All Tests".

Accelenet doesn't change your modem speed. Greater throughput is achieved through compression. There is a tradeoff between image quality and speed. Our test results are shown at different image quality settings. The lower the image quality, the higher your speed.

Using the Control Panel to Adjust Image Quality

You can change the image quality, and hence the speed by right clicking on theicon on the lower right hand side of your screen. Then left click on "options" and then on the "Web" tab. Here you can indicate the image quality you want to test - fair, good, excellent or perfect.

After you have made some tests with Accelenet, you can right click on the A icon, and left click on "Exit" to close Accelenet and download the same files without AcceleNet to make your comparison.
