The Fundamental Error

Every philosophy is the outcome of Someone's thinking. Therefore there are many philosophies. This school of Practical philosophy does not speculate in the same manner as other philosophies, nor does it rely on a system of belief. It has a vision of you and I and its purpose is to unfold that vision.

The purpose of studying Practical Philosophy is to gain an end, which is different to studying academically. In academic study of the subject there is essentially one value, and that is to provide an intellectual understanding of the subject, which may in turn provide an academic qualification such as a degree. With Practical Philosophy it is very different. Its value has a human end which is sought after by every human being, an end that will provide freedom from limitation, a freedom in which one can accept oneself totally. Acceptance is only possible only when one is acceptable to oneself.

In recent years bookshops have added a huge section to their shelves under the heading, Body & Mind, in order to accommodate the increasing numbers of folk who are becoming disillusioned with their environment, their personal state of being, political systems, and religious beliefs.

The library of books and organisations that have sprung up over the last two decades are as huge as they are diverse, yet they all have one thing in common. They all state in some form or the other that when you have gained one thing or another life will be a smooth sailing, but if you accept this, you will be on a trip for life. How can it be so? The past has gone, and the future is uncertain, and the only thing we have, and must not lose, is the present moment. It is here and now that things need to be okay, not then and there.

The vision of you that is being presented here is that you are what you want to be, The whole, The secure, The happy person, and the sort to be counted in this world. If you are that person and ignorance of this fact leaves you with a feeling of lack, dispelling of the ignorance will eliminate the lack.

When one begins to enquire into one's own nature, it leads to the understanding that the very sense of lack is a fundamental error that needs correction , an error that is caused by ignorance, and the only way this ignorance will go is through gaining self knowledge.
