Serving Communities In Rural Northern California

The Seven Rivers Radio Network is a collaborative effort of four Northern California community radio stations: KHSU, Arcata; KIDE, Hoopa; KMUD, Redway; KZYX, Philo. The geographic area coverered includes the counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, Trinity, and Mendocino.

The network's broadcast region has a distinct character with many similarities and cultural ties. At the same time, there are no common media outlets available to distribute information across the whole area. Creation of the network will provide a valuable component of the community's infrastructure.

The purpose of the network is to provide high quality programming on topics of regional concern, allowing for a presentation of information with greater depth and broader perspective than any one station would be capable of on a regular basis. Proposed topics for programming include election information and candidate debates, water and timber issues, demographic changes to the area, and emergency broadcasting.

The Seven Rivers Radio Network is made possible in part by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and with funding from the Humboldt Area Foundation.
