I am new to the art of creating websites, much closer to the beginning
than to mastery. The only training I've had so far was
a very brief (six hour) free online course I found listed on
my home page.
It seems to be work that suits me. It engages my aptitudes effectively. It is essentially a graphic art, creating visual compositions on the screen. It is also a communication and language art, requiring clarity of structure and efficient use of written language. My experience with more complex programming languages makes the comparitively simple and forgiving HTML and JavaScript not very intimidating. |
I have gotten the most help from reading the "source
code" of other websites. The code of most all websites is immediately
available. If you click on "View" at the
top of this page, then on "Source" in the drop-down menu,
you will see the code for this page. Once you
understand a handful of the basic "tags" it becomes easy to
follow the code and see how a page works.
Below are links to two quite different sites I've written. The BricelandGPS site promotes a product I'm developing, and accomodates online purchases. The SoHum Drafting site is essentially a "business presence" site, intended to describe available services and requiring no interaction with the viewer. |
