Elephant Terrace

The Royal Palace and Royal Temple of Jayavarman IV (12th C.) are built on a huge elevated rectangular terrace, on the west side of the road, just beyond Bayon. The ten-to-twelve-foot elevation difference is restrained by a vertical sculpted stone retaining wall that forms the front edge of what is called the Elephant Terrace.
