Colonial Willamsburg is the half-restored, half-recreated second capital
of the earliest succesful English settlement in the New World. The colossal
project was begun in the 30's by mega-tycoon Nelson Rockefeller and has
grown into a city-sized living history theater, complete with a literal
cast of thousands.
A few take on specific roles, like Thomas Jefferson or a Tenant Widow. Many more simply practice a skill. The Blacksmiths and Woodworkers of the city create the hardware, goods and houses, using the technology and technique of the time. Dance by candlelight, Eat Drink and be Merry, Experience the Past. |
