Spaces

As is so often the case in mathematics (and elsewhere) the real key to finding our answer lies in elegantly describing the problem. As anyone who has used polar coordinates in a problem involving circular motion knows, the right choice of coordinate systems can make all the difference. So our first task will be the laying of mathematical foundations; we'll define the spaces and tools which make up the context we'll work in.
